Jumbo Cupcake 3" x 6"

Chocolate cake filled with whipped peanut butter and topped with chocolate mouse.

This was one of my first wedding cakes. It was made for my sister's wedding last July. The bottom tier, carrot cake with cream cheese filling, was 18" x 8" (HUGE and heavy), the second tier, chocolate with raspberry, was 12" x 6" and the top tier, vanilla with lemon, was 6" x 6".

The cake is covered in individually made fondant flowers that I hand painted with gold dust. Over all this cake required 39 hours of love and labor. --- The things you will do for a baby sister. :)

Tammi's Wedding

I showed up at the reception hall, cake in hand at 11 am. The wedding is scheduled to start at one. I got there with the cake already stacked and ready to go. All I had to do was put the flowers and sea shells on it....well the florist wasn't there yet. So I waited, and waited and waited. FINALLY at noon she showed up, only to tell me she didn't have ANY flowers for the cake. The bride was distraught, and the cake looked naked, so the maid of honor came running out of the dressing room with her credit card and begged me to run to the grocery store and buy any flowers that would work. Immediately Amy and I hopped in my car drove like the wind to the nearest and only grocery store...only to find their flower selection hugely wanting. They had nothing in the brides colors. Anyway...we found some and made it back.
To make the whole situation just that much more ridiculous, they didn't have any scissors at the wedding location! SO I was ripping ribbon and rose stems etc... with a broken paring knife, wildness. All this wouldn't have been too bad if I could have worked on the cake during the ceremony like the Maid of Honor had said I could. But no. Turns out they decided to open up the room by sliding back the enormous room dividers so that the ceremony and the reception room were all one. So there I was throwing together a cake as guests were being escorted by me and my mess to be seated. .... .... .... ... then... ... ... I noticed the music had changed... ... ... ... Guests were no longer being seated... .... YIKES. I grabbed all my junk, trying not to make noise with all the plastic bags and trash and tip toed out of the room via the back door, ONLY to almost RUN into the Maid of Honor and the Bride. They were lined up ready to walk threw the very door I had just come through and past the cake and down the Aisle.!!!! Oh but here comes the best part. I still had the credit card. So I whispered to the MOH and she said "I"ll get it from you later"..."oh no!" I said..."I"m not staying!" (It was already 1:15 and I was still a half hour away from where I was supposed to be meeting Mark at ONE). So in a rash moment the other bridesmaid as she is walking by me on her way down the aisle grabbed the card and shoved it down her dress into her bra! yep. Doesn't get better than that.
